A Panorama of a Moose's Coast (wait ... that's not right)

If you are getting tired of Cabot Trail images, you are in luck (soon, not yet) I think there is only one more days worth of them until I get to the bulk of the "non-HDR" images.

On a separate note (and a shameless plug) if you get the chance and are interested. Take a look at my latest three articles on "Bright Hub". How to Photograph the Moon, How to build a light box for photography, and Manual Photography Basics.

Beatiful Cape Breton

My original plan was to put three images up on this post since I had the time to do so, but then I saw this image. I liked it so much that it deserved a post of its own. I think I can honestly say that it is my favourite of the Cabot Trail series. This image is one of look outs over the town of Pleasant Bay. One of the claims to fame of the town are the famous whale watching tours based here.

Another One Shot Cabot Trail Stop

Another fast and furious time restricted post. As you have probably guessed this is another continuation of the Cabot Trail series here. Though it is not always the way to go, I find the desaturated look here does the image well. In my mind it tells a story of countless numbers of travelers passing by the trail over the ages. Maybe I'm just searching for some sort of meaning ... it could also just be a neat way of showing an amazing view in a beautiful part of the country!

These three images from the Cabot trail were taken on the western loop of the trail not too far north from Cheticamp.

Neil's Harbour Lighthouse

Due to a lack of time here, you only get one image today. We've finally made it to the series of images from the Cape Breton Trail. This one is of the lighthouse at Neil's Harbour.

Louisbourg Lighthouse

Here is the installment 1 of 2 of the images from the Louisbourg lighthouse. This was the site of the first lighthouse in Canada, which was completed in 1734. The foundation from the second lighthouse on the spot is still visible today. The lighthouse which is presently there was built in 1923 and eventually destaffed in 1990. Now it is a popular look out point and the start of a coastal walking trail.

Cape Breton Panoramas

For those of me that follow my photography, you may have guessed by now that I am addicted to HDR photography. This post is one of the few that are not littered with HDR images. In fact, I would dare say that this is the first post where I present to you three different panorama images! The first one is the one of the views from the National Historic Site of Louisbourg, the second is the view of the coast from the site of the Louisbourg lighthouse (away from the lighthouse ... obviously), and finally the third is of the Louisbourg lighthouse and the Atlantic in the distance. Be patient with me over the weekend (and maybe into Monday) since you have a few days of Lighthouse images to come!

Louisbourg

Louisbourg, now a National Historic Site in Cape Breton, used to be one of the most extensive and expensive European fortifications in North America. Passing from French to English (and then back to French?) hands several times through the course of history. Here are three images from our trip over to Louisbourg when we were in Cape Breton this summer.

Long Time Coming

So ... you are in for some luck over the next week or more. I have a whole slew of images that have been a long time coming. We are talking about images that have been taken, and some even edited throughout August, but never posted. So here we go ... These first three are from the Highland Village in Iona, Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. These three show again what one can get from different perspectives, post processing techniques, and photo techniques of the same subject. Like I said ... keep posted for more Cape Breton Goodness over the next week or so. When that is through, I have some more from Colorado Springs to pass on. After even that I have some waterfall images from up at the Chalet!!

Geminids

Last night was the peak of the Geminid meteor shower. Technically where I was/am the best time to watch was supposed to be at ~1am but it clouded over before then. Good thing I went out before hand and watched anyways. I saw plenty of geminids but nowhere near the predicted maximum 100-140/hr. All in all out of all that I saw, I was able to capture only one on camera.
