Louisbourg, now a National Historic Site in Cape Breton, used to be one of the most extensive and expensive European fortifications in North America. Passing from French to English (and then back to French?) hands several times through the course of history. Here are three images from our trip over to Louisbourg when we were in Cape Breton this summer.
