Ocean Views

Another one of the beautiful ocean views from the resort in the Dominican Republic.

Pool Bar

This was the main pool at the Dominican resort, including the pool bar.

Victorian Bed

Another advantage to the fancy room in the resort was the large "Victorian Style" bed.

Exterior Shower

This is one of the fancy advantages of the (for lack of a better name for it) "honey moon suite" that we had at the resort in Dominican. There was a nice outdoor shower and hammock which was an annex to the room's washroom.

Hairy Palms

I couldn't help but put the title of this one as "Hairy Palms" ... it just sounded right. The image is awful close to yesterday's image, but with a pair of legs in it!

The next few are another continuation of the old Punta Cana 'Landscapes' that have been awaiting edits for the last 5 months!

A Place to Watch the Sunrise

Last image from the Punta Cana sunrise pictures! This one I just couldn't help taking. Some couple obviously couldn't watch the sunrise from where the beach chairs were originally located, so they had to drag them to a much better spot. What is the furthest you can go to enjoy the sunrise? Why that would be the rope delineating the end of your resort's part of the beach of course!

The Way to Live in the Dominican Republic

This is one of the random images that I have from the beach walk morning in Punta Cana. Marc and I found this house quite interesting, considering it is a private residence in between all of the resorts, just a stone throw away from the beach. There was a wall and gates separating it from the rest. Of course, there is another reason why Marc like it so much; there is a helicopter landing pad!!

Ships under the Sun

Here is a slightly different one from the Punta Cana Sunrise pictures. More of a zoomed in perspective on the ships. I was really trying to get the sun rays coming through the clouds.

Another beach sunrise.

Walk on the Beach

Back to Punta Cana for a bit. Simple image here, showing the simplicities of being on vacation. Nothing like an early morning walk on the beach into the sunrise!

Tired of Punta Cana Sunrises?

So you are probably tired of Punta Cana Sunrises, so after this one I'll take a break for at least two days and jump over to some more recent things that I've done. One that was just before I got my new 7D and another which is a quick shot in the backyard. More to follow on those.

This sunrise one I really liked because of the dreamy quality it was given. Thoughts?

Path of the Water

Another quick one from Punta Cana. I just liked how the edge of the beach, the water, trees, and the horizon all pull you into the sunrise.

Cleaning up

This one follows the last post in that it shows the clean up that is done in the mornings for a beautiful beach in the Dominican Republic. As it is, you can also see that there are already tourists down on the beach for a morning walk.

Early Morning Dominican Work

The unseen heroes of the Dominican resorts are the ones that we never see. Individuals like this who are always out before many of the tourists hit the beach, making sure that it is clean and presentable.

Back to Punta Cana

Although I took a break to showcase a few of the images from the 7D, I finally am getting back into the Punta Cana images. Here is another one (and the next few days will be too) from the sunrise images on the beach.

Work in the Dominican

The third image here is the unsung hero of this series. One of the things that makes my really happy to have risen at 0600 to take pictures was to see the state of action in the early morning around the resorts. The work in the mornings that goes unseen is amazing to give the impression of perfection in these resorts. A tourist wakes up in the morning and makes his way down to the beach and sees the image of perfection; this tourist doesn't even think of the work that makes the beach look this way. At ~0700 in the morning we saw approximately 30 workers spread out over many many resort beaches just raking the seaweed from the beach, placing it in garbage bags, and removing it even before the tourists arrive. Similarly (and maybe more often seen) many workers climb the coconut trees and remove the coconuts that have even the most remote chance of falling on a beach faring tourist.

Ocean Sunrise

The first image is another one of my favourite images from the morning. It is one of those images that you have to look a couple of times to appreciate it. When you see the wave coming in and going out at the same time it gives an interesting look ... at least I think so!
