Ambiorix was a national "hero" as a leader of the Belgic tribe of North Eastern Gaul. Why did he achieve "hero" status you ask? Well he was specifically well known for his resistance against Julius Caesar in 57BC. This is the statue of Ambiorix in the middle of the city of Tongeren
